What types of plans are reviewed by the State Fire Marshal’s Office?

  • State owned property (not leased or rented).
  • NH University System.
  • Educational occupancies.
  • Healthcare occupancies.
  • In locations where there is no code enforcement mechanism and the municipality has requested assistance in writing.

What edition of NFPA 101, The Life Safety Code® has NH adopted?

The 2018 edition.

What edition of NFPA 1, The Fire Prevention Code has NH adopted?

The 2018 edition.

How long will it take to review my plans?

It will take approximately four to six weeks.

What edition of the International Building Code has NH adopted?

The IBC 2018 edition has been adopted, with a number of amendments.

What should I submit with my project’s plans?

Please print out the Plan Review Submission Request form which outlines all that is needed for review.

How many copies of the plan should I submit?

One copy.

What will I receive if my plan is approved?

A building permit will be issued to any project that falls under the State Building Permit System.

Educational and healthcare occupancies will receive a final approval letter.
