Victim Identified in Fatal Litchfield Fire

LITCHFIELD, New Hampshire – New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Litchfield Fire Chief Doug Nicoll and Police Chief Daniel Jones announce that the victim of the fire at 7 Century Ln, Litchfield on February 20, 2024, has been identified.  

The NH Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as 62-year-old Janet Gee of Litchfield.  The cause of her death was determined to be smoke inhalation and the manner of her death is pending.    

The investigation into the origin & cause of the fire is active and ongoing by members of the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Litchfield Fire and Police Departments.

State Fire Marshal Toomey would like to remind all citizens of the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home. In the event of an alarm activation or visible smoke or fire, immediately exit your home and call 9-1-1. Keep exits clear and accessible at all times and have a home fire escape plan.  If you have any questions about fire safety in your home, please contact your local fire department or the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office.
