Explosion Occurs at Hampstead House

Hampstead – New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey and Hampstead Fire Chief Michael Carrier announce that an explosion occurred on August 19, 2022, at a single family residence at 14 School St. in Hampstead. The fire department responded to the residence at approximately 7:05 AM. Upon arrival, they found smoke and fire coming from the house and it was obvious that an explosion had occurred, with debris found in the roadway. Two residents were assisted by the fire department to escape from the house and one of the residents sustained minor injuries.

The fire went to a first alarm before being declared under control. The following fire departments assisted with putting out the fire and providing station coverage: Salem, Derry, Atkinson, Londonderry, Sandown, Plaistow, Danville and Trinity Ambulance. Hampstead Police Department also assisted with traffic control.

The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation by the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office, in conjunction with the Hampstead Fire Department.
