Passengers Evacuated From Pats Peak Ski Lift

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Passenger Tramway Safety Board announce a joint investigation is underway after a chairlift malfunction at Pats Peak Ski Resort.

On Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, a representative from Pats Peak notified the State Fire Marshal’s Office about a mechanical issue on the Peak triple chair lift. No injuries were reported, however, more than 100 passengers were evacuated as a result of the malfunction. A tramway inspector responded to conduct an inspection of the lift.

The investigation has determined the incident was caused by wind gusts and was not mechanical.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is grateful for the collaborative efforts of members of Pats Peak Ski Patrol and Henniker Fire and Rescue, who worked together to safely evacuate all passengers.
