Investigations & Incident Response
The NH State Fire Marshal’s Office – Bureau of Investigations (BOI) – Fire & Explosion Investigation Section is available to respond or provide consult by phone 24/7. We also make trainings available to fire departments and first responders related to fire investigation and we respond to 91-A/Right to Know requests for records.
The Bureau of Investigations (BOI) is responsible for investigating all fires, building collapses, and carbon monoxide releases, other than from automobiles, which cause death. In addition, the State Fire Marshal’s Office (NHFMO) assists any fire chief requesting assistance and will also respond to requests from law enforcement agencies and from local government boards.
These functions have not changed. We have updated some of our operations and related programs due to COVID-19.
