    Fire Investigator (Full-Time) - please apply by 8/8/22

    This full-time position  is classified as Position #10937; Labor Grade 22). Posted salary is $58,780.80-$69,222.40 

    Minimum qualifications: Associate’s degree or its equivalent with major study in a fire science or criminal justice or related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience. Also, five years’ experience conducting fire inspections and fire investigations OR five years’ experience as a law enforcement officer, to include experience investigating criminal matters, collecting evidence, presenting courtroom testimony, conducting interviews and interrogating witnesses.

    Special Requirements:

    1. Examinations: Applicants must successfully participate in a physical agility test administered by the Division of Police Standards and Training. This test is designed to measure ability to perform essential job functions which are physically demanding tasks encountered in job performance. Applicants must also successfully participate in a written examination administered by the Division of Fire Standards and Training, and structured interviews administered by the Department of Safety, Division of Human Resources in conjunction with the Division of Fire Standards and Training. Before appointments are made, candidates will undergo comprehensive background investigations, polygraph examinations and psychological examinations. Candidates who do not have a record free of serious offenses will be ineligible for appointment. After conditional offers of appointment have been made, prospective appointees must pass a comprehensive medical examination by their own physician. No physical conditions can exist prohibiting appointees from performing the duties and responsibilities of Fire Investigator.
    2. Police Officer Certification: Candidates must possess or be able to obtain full-time police officer certification within the time frame established by the N.H. Police Standards and Training Council.  Must maintain police officer certification throughout tenure of service.
    3. Fire Fighter 1 Certification: Candidates must possess or be able to obtain Fire Fighter 1 certification or equivalent within a time frame established by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
    4. Candidates must be willing to accept employment anywhere in the State of New Hampshire.
    5. Selected candidate will undergo a background investigation including fingerprint based criminal records check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information, in accordance with department policy.
